This chronicle is an innovative part of our project. The chronicle created by the students of our school is a recap of all that was done in our project. It also is a great memory for us and our project partners!
Meet my Class
Meet my class is a unique international project, created by English teachers, who felt they need to do something more for their students. We have joined the group of extraordinary students and teachers. We want our students to communicate online with peers from around the world! Inviting people from around the world coming from different cultures for online meetings makes students understand the importance of learning a foreign language. The learning process is also a wonderful and unforgettable adventure! Grade 6 first met Asamaa, who is an English teacher from Egypt!
Our meeting with students from Macedonia and Turkey were very interesting and informative. We talking about and sharing our interests, information about families, school, what we do during national quarantine. In turned out that we are so similar to students who live so far away. Our students made a presentation about our beautiful country and were talking about how they cope with remote learning.
During our next meeting (grade 4) we have got to know students from Israel and India!
As a component of their presentation about Poland our students have prepare an online Escape Room about Poland. Do you want to check, if you know Poland well, try to finish it :)
Bulhak's Talent Day
Come to Talent Days at our school and you’ll see children sharing a kaleidoscope of skills and interests—doing magic, photography, cooking, writing, gymnastics, singing or playing instruments. No matter what the sharing, though, an audience of classmates, teachers, parents, and others invited by the children offers enthusiastic support and appreciation. This annual spring celebration takes place in our school and it’s designed to allow all students to be recognized, whether their special interest is in music or some other area. Even those children who choose not to share play an important role as respectful audience members.
Bulhak Quarantine Festival
Once we all had to stay home for national quarantine when the COVID-19 pandemic hit us all, our students did not give up, they wanted to show that you can still do great things and grow your talents. These kids proved their peers that quarantine doesn't necessary have to be boring, in fact in can be the exact opposite, it is a perfect time to show creativity and talent. Here is what they showed us.
Sharing good practices
We like to share the good practices we have come to use in our classroom, this is why we continuously work with the University of Warsaw Faculty of Pedagogy, and we welcome student teachers to our classrooms. These are Graduate students majoring in Teaching English to Young Learners. The most important element of their study is combining theory and practice. In order to do that, the students visit other countries and many different schools to observe how the learning process really takes place. At our school University students are completing their year long student teaching practice working with our teachers of bilingual subjects: History, Art and Culture as well as Mathematics. The University chooses the schools they send the students to very carefully, examining the fit for the job. This is why we are very pleased that we can be a part of that important project and show teachers-to-be how to work with young learners in the classroom that is mostly using CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning). It not only is a great experience for the student teachers but also for our students as often the student teachers are foreigners and bring with them new culture and traditions that they can also talk about with the students at our school, they also have to use English Language as the main language to communicate with their teacher, which obviously helps them to smoothen their abilities.
As part of the cooperation with the Warsaw Center for Educational and Social Innovation and Training and the implementation of the school project, grade 6 together with the invited guests participated in an online model lesson, deepening the knowledge about the life of King Henry VIII on the bilingual subject History, Art and Culture - didactic innovation based on own program. The main aim of the lesson was to support the development of language competences and the promotion of information and communication technology.
Talent comics
When thinking about talents our students decided to make their own talent comics, but to be more XXI century they made them using ICT. Just check them out!
Saint Patrick's Day
Observance of Saint Patrick's Day is a tradition at our school, every year on March 17th we dress green and talk about the importance of this day. Students often show off their knowledge and skills preparing projects and presentations. Here are some form the most recent St. Paddy's Day.
Foreign Languages Workshops
One of our school's goals is integration with local community. This is why we organize Foreign Language Workshops every year. On that day we offer fun activities for kids from our and neighboring districts. Every year we welcome a group of great kids accompanied by their parents who learn foreign languages through activities prepared by our students. Each of the events has a theme from Christmas workshops to Dinosaur workshops, we have done it all and our visitors loved them! Want to know more about it, check out the presentation or come and visit next one this Fall.
Bilingual Programme
As part of the project we have developed our own curriculum for bilingual teaching. The curriculum includes two subjects: History, Art and Culture as well as Maths and Science Elements. These subjects are being taught to students in grades 4 - 6. Younger ones also have bilingual/CLIL lessons based on teachers programme in subjects: Maths and Science. After 6th grade students can continue in the bilingual programme learning History and Mathematics in English. In bilingual teaching it is important to make connection between communicating in foreign language and the content knowledge of the subject. Such integration supports and develops attitudes of openness and tolerance, leads to understanding of cultural differences, which in turn is the key to discovering one's personal culture. Thanks to bilingual lessons such as History, Art and Culture, students not only gain knowledge in a given field, but also develop their language skills by using a foreign language during the lesson. The aim of the course is to familiarize students with the basic canons of art, characteristic elements of epochs and styles in art, ranging from ancient civilizations to the times of the First World War. Students will learn about cultural diversity and visual art in a historical perspective, with particular emphasis on the specifics of Anglo-Saxon countries. When it comes to Maths and Science lessons students understand that basic math is an universal language the main concepts doesn't change with the change of the instruction language. During the lessons students gain the understanding of basic math and science concepts as well as skills in conducting basic physics and mathematics experiments including data collection. Most of the times students work with projects so that they can develop skills important later in life. They solve real world problems using their knowledge and creativity.
Talent and passion running in family
It happens a lot that kids look up to their parents or siblings passions and as it goes they first observe then take their first steps. Our school has many students who are continuing family passions and talents. We encourage you to see what talents they inherited. Just click the button below.
In May of 2021 3P Learning and Mathletics have organized another World Maths Day, obviously we couldn't let it be without Bulhak! Our students from grades 2 - 6 have competed alogside students form all around the World solving math problems all in English! What a great practice for those who learn Math bilingually in our school. We are a small school, but that didn't stop us, Bulhak ended up in Hall of Fame in the 3rd place in Poland, and in the top 150 in the World! Not only we checked our math and English capabilities (and we did great - don't you think?) we have added to the charity event, because 3P Learning is helping UNICEF raise money so that all kids have equal access to education. Check out the website: UNICEF+3PLearning

Art talents
Our students also like to display their art talents. Here are some art pieces that we would like to share - portraits of HRM Queen Elizabeth II and 3D buildings all from the UK.

Would you like to visit an English Theatre? There is no need to travel anywhere, our students play roles and create their own plays adaptations. They have great fun with it!
As a result of a great work done by the 3rd graders we are presenting this short play. It is all about recycling, reusing and reducing. Enjoy!
